Standing Against the Left’s Assault on Order and Opportunity

Across the country we are seeing aggressive tactics from the left that threaten public safety and civic norms. Those actions are not random; they come with a political agenda that tolerates property destruction and lawlessness. The violence from the left, the attacks on free markets, the rise of antisemitism — NR is fighting these trends.

Street violence and chaotic protests have become a constant headline in some cities, and they change how people live and work. Citizens who pay taxes and obey the law watch their neighborhoods get disrupted while officials offer weak responses. This matters because a safe community is the foundation for prosperity and liberty.

Free markets are under steady ideological attack from policymakers who prefer central control and punitive regulation. Entrepreneurs face uncertainty when policy shifts reward cronies and punish competitors, and that discourages investment and innovation. Defending competition and property rights is essential to keeping opportunities open for everyone.

Antisemitism has seen a disturbing revival in certain corners of public life, and silence is not an option. Targeting Jews on campuses, in media, or on the streets corrodes the moral fabric of pluralistic society. Recognizing the problem plainly is the first step toward real remedies.

NR approaches these challenges with reporting that challenges prevailing narratives and with analysis rooted in principles of limited government. We aim to expose where public officials fail to protect citizens and where cultural institutions excuse intimidation. That kind of accountability matters because institutions that go unchecked can distort public debate and reward bad behavior.

On policy, the defense of markets means pushing back against subsidies and regulations that favor insiders over entrepreneurs. It also means arguing for tax and legal frameworks that let people keep more of what they earn and invest in their communities. Sound economics is not ideology for the sake of argument; it is the practical path to broader prosperity.

When antisemitic incidents appear, the response should be legal, civic, and moral, and it should come quickly. Schools, employers, and local governments must enforce rules that protect minorities and preserve free speech without tolerating harassment. Normalizing protection under the law is a conservative commitment to equal treatment and public order.

Coverage of progressive violence must be frank and consistent, not selective or apologetic. When the media downplay lawbreaking because it aligns with a political cause, the result is uneven justice and eroded trust. We believe reporting that treats criminals and agitators the same, regardless of ideology, restores accountability.

These issues intersect in real people’s lives: a small business owner shut down by a riot, a campus club shut out by harassment, a neighborhood that loses investment because of instability. Those are not abstract policy debates; they are practical problems that demand practical solutions grounded in principle. NR is focused on exposing the failures and arguing for the policies that protect liberty, commerce, and community life.
